Odisha HC orders CBI probe into fodder scam

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court today directed for a CBI investigation into an alleged fodder scam in a dairy cooperative in Cuttack.

A directive in this regard was given by the court while hearing a petition filed by Santosh Samal, an employee of the dairy cooperative. As per the petition, some authorities of the dairy cooperative misappropriated fodder worth Rs 13 lakh by forging the signature of the petitioner, who worked as an operator of a dairy plant in Tirtol functioning under the dairy cooperative.

The misappropriation came to fore during an audit in 2018, following which the authorities blamed Samal for the incident and suspended him. He had then moved the High Court seeking a CBI probe into the matter.

Samal has alleged involvement of some OMFED officials in the scam. Worth mentioning, the dairy cooperative is being managed by OMFED and has eight dairy plants.
