Odisha Jan Morcha rubbishes minister’s charge against Pyarimohan

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, July 19:

The Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) party has dismissed the allegations levelled against its president and Rajya Sabha MP Pyarimohan Mohapatra, by BJD minister Dr Damodar Rout while taking part in a television studio discussion on Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda’s arrest on Friday, as ‘politically motivated’ and ‘condemnable’ .

In a press relase the party has said the minister’s accusation that the OJM president had links with the Maoist leader is designed to mislead the people  by fabricating  false charges against Mohapatra.

The OJM had alleged that chief minister Naveen Patnaik, worried over the success of several rallies organised by Pyarimohan Mohapatra had been putting pressure repeatedly on former DGP Prakash Mishra to get Mohapatra arrested by implicating him in Maoist-related cases after manufacturing evidence of his complicity with Maoists and Sabyasachi Panda.

The release further said that the arrest of a young engineer Sangram Mohanty on charges of having Maoist links was part of the design to implicate Mohapatra in similar cases. Mohanty has been in jail for the last 20 months and as many as 19 false cases have been slapped against him, the release said.

” Despite the fact that Pyarimohan Mohapatra has dismissed allegations of  “Maoist links” as baseless and politically motivated in several press conferences addressed by him in the past, the latest attempt by Dr Damodar Rout to trump up similar charges against him reflects a mean and spiteful political agenda,” the release observed.
