Odisha Sun Times Bureau

Cuttack, July 4:

The Orissa High Court today directed the police to file a fresh affidavit by July 7 on the alleged kidney sale case in which the director of the Vishakhapatnam-based Seven Hills hospital Dr N Prabhakar Babu has been arrested and sent on a two-week judicial remand.Orissa High Court

A division bench of the court comprising Justices Indrajit Mohanti and Sangam Kumar Sahoo issued the direction while hearing the habeas corpus writ filed by Dr Babu’s wife.

Dr Babu’s wife N Rathnakumari had moved the High Court seeking intervention to release her ailing husband, who had been ‘unjustly’ arrested by the Odisha police

During today’s hearing, the  bench did not feel convinced about the manner in which the inspector of the local Mangalabag police station, who had gone to Vishakhapatnam to arrest Dr Babu, responded to its queries.

The matter will be heard again on July 8 after the copy of the affidavit by the police is shared with the petitioner counsel, the Bench ordered.
