Odisha man dies of suffocation near septic tank, nephew critical

Nayagarh: In a tragic incident, a person died of asphyxiation and condition of his nephew became critical while they were working near a septic tank at Pathara village under Odagaon police limits in Odisha’s Nayagarh district today.

The deceased has been identified as Baikuntha Behera. His nephew Pabana Behera is undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital.

According to reports, the mishap took place this morning when the duo was opening the lid of the septic tank. Both fell critically ill following which they were rushed to the district headquarters hospital where Baikuntha was declared brought dead by doctor.

On the other hand, condition of Pabana is state to be critical. Police have started investigation into the incident. The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem.

A pall of gloom descended on the village after the incident.
