Odisha: Man kills sister-in-law, rapes mother-in-law in forest

Keonjhar: In a highly shocking incident, a man allegedly killed his sister-in-law and raped his mother-in-law in a forest near Karibur area under Balani police limits in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, yesterday.

According to reports, accused Roop Singh Sidhu had gone to the forest with the two women for collecting mushroom. In the meantime, a dispute erupted between Roop Singh Sidhu and his sister-in-law. He lost his cool, hacked her to death with an axe, and threw the body into a pit.

The accused then tied the legs and hands of his mother-in-law to a tree and allegedly raped her. She somehow managed to escape and reached a police station in the neighbouring Jharkhand state.

On being informed by the cops about the incident, Balani police reached the crime spot and initiated investigation.

Efforts were on by Balani police to trace and nab the accused, who absconded after committing the crime.
