Odisha man thrashed to death on suspicion of practicing sorcery, 4 held

Keonjhar: A 40-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by a group of persons on suspicion of practicing sorcery at Pidhapokhari village in Joda block of Odisha’s Keonjhar district.

According to police sources, mother of Tutu Munda in the village had died a few days ago and he was blaming Sudam Munda, a sorcerer of the locality, for the death.

With an intention of seeking revenge, Tutu along with his 4-5 associates reached Sudam’s house on Monday and thrashed him to death with lathi. They later dumped the body at a nullah.

On being informed about the incident, police last night reached the village, recovered the body and started investigation.

As many four persons– Tutu Munda, Sendha Munda, Misra Munda and Durga Munda– have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder.
