Odisha Matric exam OMR missing: Three teachers arrested, 2 detained

Malkangiri: Three teachers, including a headmaster so far have been arrested today in connection with the missing of Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) answer sheets of Matric exam in Odisha’s Malkangiri.

As per the available information, Padia police has arrested Assistant Superintendent Shatrughan Swain, Gathanpali School Headmaster Jalandhar Behera and teacher Sandeep Sahu of SSD High School examination centre in Padia area of the district.

Behera had entered the exam centre without taking prior permission, for which the cops took action against him, sources said.

Besides, the police have detained two others for interrogation in this regard.

In another related development, SSD High School Peon Suprit Sethi has been suspended by the Collector.

On Monday, the district Collector had suspended the four teachers for their alleged involvement in the case.

Acting on the directive of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), the concerned BEO had yesterday lodged complaint at the Padia police station against the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Observer and a peon of the examination centre.

OMR answer sheets of as many as 108 students, who had appeared for the annual Matric examination this year, have gone missing from the exam centre. The missing sheets are of Mathematics subject, examination of which was held on March 2.
