Odisha matriculation exams to begin on Feb 23

The annual High School Certificate Examinations (HSC) 2015 conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha will start from February 23 for regular candidates and will end on March 9, said a notification issued by the BSE here today.

For ex-regular candidates, the examination will begin on February 24 and end on March 10.

A total of 5, 92, 281 candidates will appear in the examination, which will be held at 2,799 centres across the state, the notification said. Of the total students appearing in the examinations this year, 9,620 students are ex-regular and 4,417 are Madhyama.

Evaluation of answer sheets will  begin from March 16, the notification said.

Briefing media persons about the details of the exam schedule, BSE president Dakshya Prasad Nanda said, “As regards selection of examination centres, we had left the decision in this regard with the district level committee comprising the district collector, SP and District Education Officer. As per the recommendation of the committee, we have selected 2799 centres this year.

On safety of question papers, he said the Board has opened 302 nodal centres where the question papers would be kept with 24-hour security by the police. Of the 302 nodal centres, 22 have been set up in police stations while one centre has been opened at the tehsil office.

Referring to the timing of the examinations, Nanda said the candidates will enter into the examination hall at 8.30 AM while OMR sheets and questions sheets will be provided to them at 8.45 AM. The students will be allowed 15 minutes to go through the objective type questions after which the examinations will begin sharp at 9 AM.

“The duration of the objective type test will be one hour after which the candidates will be provided with the subjective questions papers and allowed 10 minutes time to answer the questions in one-and-half hour,” he added.

He also informed that the students would be provided with the admit cards from February 10 onwards.
