Police has registered a case against BJD MLA from Niali Pramod Mallick in connection with the ransacking incident. Police has registered the case on the basis of findings from the CCTV footage.

“This case has been registered with political motive. The incident took place because of the inefficient handling of the incident by the police,” said Mallick.

Mallick’s supporters had ransacked Tirtol police station after he was allegedly attacked by BJP workers yesterday morning while he was on his way to attend the dedication ceremony of IOCL’s Paradip Refinery.

It may be mentioned here that Mallick was on his way to Paradip to attend the dedication of Paradip Refinery to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday. BJP workers allegedly attacked Mallick at Balipatana and damaged his vehicle. This apart he was allegedly made to march in the rally organized by BJP workers and shout slogans hailing Modi and Dharmendra Pradhan.

Following the incident tension mounted leading to clash between BJD and BJP workers and more than eight vehicles were damaged. Supporters of the BJD MLA ransacked the Tirtol police station accusing the police of inaction against the attack on the MLA.

On the other hand, police has claimed that no written complaint of the MLA being attacked has been filed and said action will be taken if a complaint is lodged.
