Odisha Police nab prime accused in triple murder case

After 23 days of the brutal murder of three family members, the police on Sunday arrested the prime accused and forwarded him to the court which remanded him to judicial custody after rejecting his bail plea.

Addressing a joint press meet, IIC of Raghunathpalli police station RC Dora and TK Jena, DSP, Zone-II, Rourkela said the accused, Rajesh Mundari (21), who was arrested in a murder case and released on bail on April 25 this year, had entered into the house of Milku Bodaik at Balughat area of Rourkela city on the same night with an intention of theft.

Seeing the family members had fallen asleep, Rajesh hit Milku’s head with an iron rod killing him on the spot. Hearing the sound, his wife and son woke up and tried to resist Rajesh who killed them with the iron rod. Later, he fled the place after taking a cash of Rs 200 from the house. The accused later went to Ruputola village and entered into the house of Chuka Magheya and attacked him and his wife Mage while they were asleep. But as the couple shouted for help, he ran away, they said.

Police, in course of investigation, found the involvement of Rajesh and arrested him on Sunday.

The accused, during interrogation, confessed to his crime. He was later produced in the court which remanded him to judicial custody after rejecting his bail plea.
