Odisha police threaten mass leave from Feb 10

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police Association (OPA) today threatened to go on leave en masse from February 10 to press for their six-point charter of demands before the State government.

Briefing reporters in a press conference here, the Odisha Police Association (OPA) President Satyajit Mishra said they will hold a meeting with the State government on February 5 to discuss their various demands.

“If the government fails to address our demands, all police officials will wear black badges to work from February 6 and, if the government again sit on our demands then all cops will go on mass leave from February 10 onwards,” Mishra threatened.

Earlier, the Police Association had threatened to discharge their duties by wearing black badges if their six-point charter of demands remains unaddressed.

In 2016, the OPA had placed a 13-point charter of demands before the State government. Later, the demands were cut down to six after a meeting with the Home Secretary and Director General of Police.
