Apart from the coveted award, the internationally-famed speedster from Japur would get a cash award of Rs 5 lakh and a citation, IMPaCT announced.

Besides, two other Odisha sportspersons—chess star Saina Salonika and weightlifter Pramila Kirsani– have been selected as runners-up for their achievements in their respective sporting fields. They will receive cash prizes of Rs 50,000 each.

The award, instituted by IMPaCT is conferred on eminent young achievers in the field of sports in Odisha every year since its formation in 1993.

The star sprinter, banned by AFI last year as per IAAF  rules for a condition known as hyperandrogenism, had won a huge reprieve in July this year when the Lausanne based Court of Arbitration on Sports (CAS), in an interim order, cleared her to participate in all international events for the next two years.
