Odisha: Student volunteers to replace brokers at RTOs

Bhubaneswar: In view of alleged corrupt practices in RTO offices across the State, the Government decided to appoint the student volunteers replacing the brokers for transparency.

Following a directive from the Home Department, the Transport Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda has written a letter to all the RTOs regarding the immediate appointment of the students as the volunteers in RTO offices.

As per the order, the RTOs have been divided into A, B and C groups for the appointment of student volunteers. The appointment will be made for 90 days in all the three categories.

The authorities have decided to fix Rs 90,000, Rs 60,000 and Rs 30,000 as remuneration for 12 student volunteers in group A, 8 in group B and 4 in group C respectively for three months. The student volunteers will be provided the uniform and they will be on duty for maximum three hours from 11.00 am till 2.00 pm. The remuneration amount will be transferred to their bank accounts.

Following appointment, the students will be provided training by the RTO officers to assist the public visiting the offices for various purposes including obtaining the license. Besides, they will be engaged in the spreading the road safety awareness among the public.
