Odisha teacher forces school girl to undress in classroom as punishment

Cuttack: A female teacher of Rangani Sahi Primary School at Tulsipur village under Banki block in Odisha’s Cuttack district allegedly forced a girl student of class-IV to take off her clothes as a punishment over an allegation against the latter of stealing a sketch pen.

The family members of the girl have complained about the matter before the school headmistress besides lodging a written complaint in this regard at the Banki police station.

As the incident came to fore, locals yesterday staged protest by locking the doors of the school and gheraoed the educational institution.

On being informed, Block Education Officer (BEO) Himanshu Bhusan Samrath reached the school and started investigation.

As per allegation by the student, the teacher beat the girl in the classroom and asked her to remove her clothes in the presence of other students after an allegation of stealing a sketch pen was levelled on the girl.

She later narrated the whole incident before her mother. The brother of the girl, who also studies in the same class, told the same thing to his mother.

The teacher reportedly offended the girl’s mother on being confronted by the latter.

On the basis of the complaint by the family members of the student, Banki police have registered a case under Sections 341, 323 and 294 of IPC.
