Odisha weightlifter K Ravi Kumar finds place in national team

Odisha’s ace weightlifter K Ravi Kumar has been included in the national weightlifting team for the ensuing Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.

A native of Brahmapur city in Odsiha’s Ganjam district, the 26-year-old Arjun awardee, who presently works with the Indian Army, had won three gold medals in 2009 Commonwealth Games at Penang in Malaysia.

In the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, he had won three gold medals. In 2011, he had won three bronze medals in the Senior Asian Weightlifting Championship at Tongling, China. He had also won 3 gold medals in Senior National Weightlifting Championship held at Bangalore in 2012.

The 20th Commonwealth Games-2014 will be held at Glasgow in Scotland from July 23 to August 3 while the 17th Asian Games will be held at Incheon in South Korea from September 19 to October 4.
