Odisha woman cop brings sexual harassment charge against Inspector

A woman constable of the state Excise office at Rourkela in Odisha’s Sundargarh district has brought sexual harassment charges against the Inspector of the same department and a male constable for abusing her in filthy language.

The victim, a widow, in a complaint lodged with the Mahila Police Station here today, alleged that that she has been mentally tortured by the Excise Inspector Manoj Kumar Sethi who has been asking her for sexual favours since last seven years. She also said one of the constables Navin Bhuyan had also abused her in filthy language.

Acting on the complaint, the Women Police have registered a case and started investigation.

“We have registered a case against Manoj Sethi under section 506 of the IPC and constable Nabin Bhuyan under section 294 of the IPC. Police are on the lookout for the two accused who are absconding’, Prativa Majhi, IIC of Women Police Station, told OST.
