Odisha youth hacked to death in sleep at home

Polasara (Ganjam): A youth was allegedly hacked to death while he was sleeping at home last night. The incident was reported from Pandia village under Purushottampur police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

The deceased person has been identified as Murali Badatya.

According to reports, Murali was sleeping at home on Friday night, while his father was sleeping on the verandah. When the latter went inside to have water in the late hours, he found his son lying in a pool of blood.

He immediately rushed his son to Hinjilicut Sub-Divisional Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

It is suspected that Murali was attacked by someone with a fatal weapon in his sleep and fled the scene.

On receiving information, Purushottampur police reached the village for an investigation into the incident.

Though the reason behind the murder is obscure and miscreants are at large, a clash that occurred two days back during ‘danda’ dance at the village is suspected to have link in murder of the youth.
