Odisha youth thrashes mother to death with bat

Jharsuguda: A youth allegedly killed his 60-year-old mother by thrashing her with a bat at Rangiakata village under Laikera police limits in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district.

According to reports, Lokeswar Kusum of the village on Friday attacked his mother Asamati with a brick and bat over family feud. The elderly woman lost consciousness in the attack and was admitted to the district headquarters hospital for treatment.

After primary treatment, she was shifted to VIMSAR in Burla. However she breathed her last while undergoing treatment at the hospital on Saturday night.

Acting on a complaint lodged by the kin of the deceased women, police have arrested the accused. He will be forwarded to court, police said.
