Ace chess star of Odisha and woman grandmaster (WGM) Padmini Rout would participate in the National women’s Premier Chess Championship to be held at Sangli in Maharashtra from October 25 to November 5.

Rout, who was among the eight top rank holders to qualify for the event on the basis of their performance in this year’s National Challenger series that concluded at Goa on September 15, had secured the fourth position.

The national champion this year will be selected for the Asian Chess Championship, World Chess Championship and the World Chess Olympiad.
