Official canvassing for BJD suspended

An official in Kandhamal district was placed under suspension on Sunday for violating the model code of conduct by campaigning for the BJD candidate in Odisha’s Kandhamal Lok Sabha constituency, official sources said.

The Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Kandhamal district Nrusingha Behera suspended Brajamohan Patnaik, the Block Extension Educator (BEE)  attached to the  Khajuripada hospital on the recommendation of the district Collector and Returning OfficerN Tirumala Nayak for violating the model code.

According to reports, the collector had asked the project director DRDA, to probe into the allegation of model code violation leveled against Patnaik by tribal leader  Lambodhar Kanhar who is contesting as an independent for the Phulbani Lok Sabha seat.

Sources said, a the  PD, DRDA indicted Patnaik after he came across a video clip which showed the official campaigning for BJD Lok Sabha candidate Hemendra Singh.
On receipt of the inquiry report, the Collector cum  Returning Officer ordered the CDMO to initiate disciplinary action against Patnaik.

Patnaik is the president of the Kandhamal Karmachari Sangram Samiti.
