One more dies of Swine Flu in Odisha; toll mounts to 8

Cuttack: The deadly swine flu claimed yet another life at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Cuttack today taking the toll in the disease in the state this year to 8.

The deceased, hailing from Salepur area, was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday.

However, his family members have alleged that medical negligence led to the death as ventilator stopped working after power cut, reports said.

On the other hand, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Pramod Kumar Meherda yesterday examined the 40-bed isolation ward of the hospital, which has been opened for the treatment of swine flu patients.

After a review meeting with authorities of the hospital, he sanctioned Rs 3 crore for procurement of necessary equipment, including ventilators, monitors, ICU beds, suction machines among others.
