OTDC rolls out ‘Pitha on Wheels’ for Raja festival amid COVID restrictions

Bhubaneswar: Amid pandemic, savour delicious pancakes at your doorsteps on Raja festival this year, as the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) has rolled out ‘Pitha on Wheels’ for residents of two cities.

“With the Raja festival starting on Monday, the OTDC with support of Mission Shakti has launched the ‘Pitha on Wheels’ to sell varieties of ‘pithas’ on the special occasion in Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur amid COVID restrictions,” OTDC Chairperson Shreemayee Mishra said today.

Reading out a message of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for people of Odisha on Raja festival, she said that the CM has expressed his pleasure for such initiative to make Odia delicacies available at doorsteps during lockdown.

“Every year, the OTDC makes arrangements for city people with all varieties of pithas and swings on premises of Pantha Nivas during Raja festival. As the COVID restrictions are in force, we decided to come up with last year’s idea ‘Pitha on Wheels’ this year to make the occasion special. Apart from Bhubaneswar, the ‘Pitha on Wheels’ service will be available for the first time in Sambalpur. Also, the varieties of pithas will be available at OTDC kiosks in Cuttack and Rourkela,” Mishra said.

She said that pithas will also be available online via food delivery services.

“People can place their orders and online food delivery boys can collect it from our counters and deliver it at doorsteps,” Mishra said urging people to celebrate the festival indoors with Odia delicacies during the lockdown.

The ‘Pitha on Wheels’ service will be available at Master Canteen, Khandagiri, CRP Square, Patia, Chandrasekharpur, Rupali areas in Bhubaneswar between 7.00 am and 11.00 am for three days from June 14 to 16.
