Ratha Jatra 2021: 65 platoons of police to be deployed in Puri

Puri: Ahead of the world-famous Ratha Jatra on July 12 this year, ADG of Police RK Sharma reviewed the security arrangements for the chariot festival in Puri today.

As per the decision taken during the meeting, the stretch between Shree Jagannatha Temple and Gundicha Temple will be divided into four zones. The Puri town will be divided into 12 zones. Tight security arrangement will be made at the entry points of the town.

Besides, security personnel will be deployed on terrace of buildings adjacent to the Grand Road (‘Bada Danda’).

A total of 65 platoons of police force will be engaged to ensure full-proof security during the Ratha Jatra.

Also, 31 DSPs and Assistant Commanders and 64 IICs will be deployed in the town.

Worth mentioning, the Puri district administration has decided to impose a 48-hour curfew in Puri town from tomorrow. The decision has been taken to prohibit congregation of people in view of Ratha Jatra 2021.

In an order, the district administration stated shutdown with curfew will be imposed under Section 144 of CrPC in the jurisdiction Puri Town with effective from 8 PM of July 11, 2021 to 8 PM of July 13, 2021.

No public congregation will be allowed on the Grand Road, roof top and balcony of the buildings adjoining ‘Bada Danda’ as well.
