Sisters kill 80-year-old granny for property in Odisha

In a bizarre case of female brutality, two sisters killed their 80-year-old maternal grandmother in Kulerguda village under Kokasara block of Kalahandi district in Odisha late on Friday night.

The two sisters, identified as Haripriya Bag (25, married) and Dibya Bharti Suna (20, unmarried) called on their grandmother Gaja Suna (80) on Friday night while she was alone and demanded to be handed over the 10 bhari (a unit of gold) gold and cash at home.

When Gja refused to give in to their demands, the two sisters brutally murdered her by crushing her head with a heavy object.

The villagers who had gathered there upon hearing the loud noise late at night surrounded the house, over[powered them and called the cops.

While the sisters attempted to flee the scene after committing the crime and learning abput the presence of villagers outside, the villagers locked the sisters in and handed them over to the cops when they reached the scene two hours later.

Gaja Suna lived with her older son Kirtan Suna. Her younger son Loknath stays separately in Kokasara.

Kirtan had been hospitalized five days before the incident in Nabarangpur hospital and his wife was there to attend to him leaving the old woman alone in th house.
