Special Summary Revision of Electoral rolls in Odisha from Nov 1; here’re details

Bhubaneswar: Ahead of panchayat polls across Odisha, an exercise for the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Photo Rolls will kickstart from November 1, 2021. This was informed by Sushil Kumar Lohani, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) today.

During the one-month exercise, those who attain the age of 18 years by January 2022 will be able to add their names to the electoral rolls. Also, eligible citizens who wish to make any changes will be able to do so during the month of November.

Lohani added voters can be part of the electoral roll revision exercise online which used to be an offline process earlier.

The final electoral roll will be announced on January 6, 2022.

With the help of ‘Voter Helpline’ app, voters can make changes to their details in the electoral list by submitting some documents substantiating the change.

The CEO will either submit the updated voter card at the doorstep of voters or the same document can be sent to them through speed post.

Speaking on voters who are not familiar with online system, Lohani said officials will organize special camps at booths on November 7 and 21 to carry out revision of electoral rolls as well.

He added special arrangement will be made as part of the exercise in remote areas.

The CEO added under the auto mechanism voter ID cards of one lakh voters have been suspended as they were bearing two voter ID cards.
