Student Cong activists demand arrest of Odisha Mins, hurl eggs

Activists of Students Congress today took out a bike rally from party headquarters here demanding the arrest of Law Minister Arun Sahoo and Housing and Urban Development Minister Pushpendra Singh Deo for their alleged links with Motilal Gouda, the prime accused in the Odisha gazette notification scam.

According to reports, a scuffle ensued between the activists and policemen at AG Square here as the cops stopped them while they were on the way to gherao the residence of Minister Sahoo. Police later detained 20 activists including Itish Pradhan, President of Students Congress, Odisha unit.

Sources said, some activists of the Students Congress hurled eggs and tomatoes at the residence of Minister Singh Deo.

“We demand the arrest of Ministers Arun Sahoo and Pushpendra Singh Deo and Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) president and Chandbali legislator Byomakesh Ray for their links with Motilal. They have received huge amount of money from him. The Students Congress will not allow Arun Sahoo to enter into the State Assembly premises. The ministers should be interrogated by the Crime Branch. If the Crime Branch is unable to interrogate the duo due to pressure from the ruling party, the matter should be handed over to CBI,” said Pradhan.
