Teacher molests girl students in Odisha’s Puri, detained by locals

Puri: Teacher of a primary school at Sunaribasta village under Kakatpur police limits in Odisha’s Puri district was detained by locals today for allegedly molesting two girl students.

As per a complaint lodged by the family members of the students with police, Manas Mishra, assistant teacher at Sunaribasta Project Primary School, told the two girls (one belonging to Class-IV and another of Class-V) to give him foot massage yesterday. The teacher later molested the duo and made obscene gestures at the students, they alleged.

The students narrated the incident before their parents after returning home following which a police complaint was lodged in this regard.

On the other hand, some villagers, being irate over the matter, detained the teacher and locked the school today. Till last reports came in, police reached the spot and were convincing the locals to release him.

Meanwhile, local Block Education Officer (BEO) said strict action will be taken against the teacher if he is found guilty.
