Three brick kiln workers hacked to death

In a ghastly act three brick kiln workers including a minor have been hacked to death allegedly by a minor co-worker near Baunsadodha stream of Kaliahata under Telkoi police limits in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.

The village brick kiln is owned by Dukhabandhu Pallei who has been also murdered. Dukhabandhu also worked in the kiln along with his workers.

Another minor boy who has been grievously hurt in the attack has been shifted to the Government Hospital at Telkoi for treatment.

While the dead have been identified as Dukhabandhu Pallei (70), Ratnakar Mundari (55) and Srikant Maharana (15), the injured boy who has been admitted to Telkoi Government Hospital has been identified as Budhu Munda. All are residents of Kaliahata village.

The murders took place late on Wednesday night at the brick kiln alongside  Baunsadhoda stream of Kaliahata. The bodies were discovered by fellow villagers this morning. The villagers who informed the police about the incident rushed the badly injured 15 year old Budhu Munda who had survived the attack to the Government Hospital at Telkoi with police help.

Sub-inspector of Telkoi police station, Kumar Jadhav who is investigating the triple murder said these workers had gone to sleep in the huts near the brick kiln after having their dinner. They were later attacked with an axe by co-worker Bamia Munda (17) leaving the three dead on the spot. This information has come from the injured boy Budhu.

Bamia is absconding and the reason for the murders is not clear. Efforts are on to nab the assailant, Jadhav added.
