Cuttack, Mar 6:

Just two days after suspension of six students from appearing semester examinations in Ravenshaw University in Odisha, Vice Chancellor Prakash Sarangi today resigned over student unrest.

Sarangi tendered his resignation to Governor SC Jamir.

He blamed the political parties’ alleged interventions in the university.

“The political parties’ intervention in the issues of university is affecting the peace in the campus. The students influenced by the political parties are adopting the language of politics rather than education”, Sarangi said.

According to reports, he resigned from his post under pressure following students’ agitation over suspension of six students.

Notably, six students were suspended and 10 others were warned on March 4 for their alleged involvement in clash between two hostels in the varsity premises.

The University authority suspended three students from appearing four semesters and another three for two semester examinations.

They were allegedly involved in the clash between New Hostel and Lalitgiri Hostel of the varsity on November 21, 2016.
