Watch: Crematorium staff in Odisha demands Rs 5,000 bribe to show deceased’s face

Keonjhar: A crematorium worker allegedly demanded Rs 5,000 to show the face of a deceased woman, who had died of COVID-19, to her kin in Champua area of Odisha’s Keonjhar. A video of the incident has gone viral on various social media platforms.

However, the crematorium staff, identified as Sidheswar Nayak, can be seen refusing to show the body after realising that the incident was being recorded on a mobile phone camera.

The woman of Krushnapur area in Champua block of the district had succumbed to the virus while undergoing treatment at a COVID Hospital. Her kin brought the body to the crematorium after the hospital authorities handed it over to the family members.
