Will schools in Odisha reopen after April 30?

Bhubaneswar: As the schools are shut in Odisha till April 30 due to intense heatwave condition during scorching summer, State authorities will take decision on reopening of schools after reviewing the situation.

“The decision regarding reopening of schools will be taken after reviewing heatwave conditions in upcoming days,” informed State School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash today.

As of now, no decision has been taken yet on reopening of schools, he clearly stated.

In view of prevailing heatwave conditions across the State, the Government announced closure of schools for students till April 30.

Further, the school authorities have cut the summer vacation short this year for students to complete the syllabus. The summer break is scheduled to start from June 6 to 16, only for 11 days.

Meanwhile, annual Plus II Examination conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) began today amidst heatwave conditions with all precautionary measures at examination centres for examinees and teachers as well. Keeping hot weather in mind, the CHSE asked authorities of examination centres to ensure provision of drinking water, fans, ORS and ice-box for students with adherence to Covid safety norms.
