Woman burnt to death by father-in-law over dowry in Odisha’s Khordha

Khordha: In a shocking incident, a woman died after allegedly being set on fire by her father-in-law at Dingar village under Begunia police limits in Odisha’s Khordha district over dowry.

The deceased in her statement before death said that she was confined in a room by her husband and mother-in-law. Later, her father-in-law Ravi Barik set her ablaze after pouring kerosene over her.

She sustained critical burn injuries and was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. However, she succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.

The parents of the woman have lodged a complaint at Begunia police station alleging involvement of her in-laws behind her death.
