Worms found in mid-day meal in Odisha, locals lock school

Berhampur: Tension erupted at Bhikapada Government Upper Primary School under Khallikote block of Odisha’s Ganjam district today after worms were allegedly found in the mid-day meal served to the students.

Locals and parents of the students, being furious over the incident, locked up the school and gheraoed headmaster Gopal Chandra Behera.

“This is not the first time that worms have been detected in the mid-day meal at the school. Though we had drawn the attention of the school authorities in the past, they didn’t pay any attention,” a local said.

They demanded expulsion of the headmaster and teacher Rama Chandra Behera from the school. Policemen have been deployed on the school premises to prevent any untoward incident.
