2 students arrested over viral video of college girl in Odisha

Jajpur: After an obscene video of a minor girl went viral on social media that led to her mother’s death by suicide in Odisha’s Jajpur district, police yesterday arrested two college students from Balasore in connection with the incident.

The Jajpur police is further investigating into incident.

As per information, a college girl of Biramitrapur Gram Panchayat under Jajpur Town police limits had befriended with a college boy studying in Balsore on Facebook. However, the girl later broke up with him for some reasons. Vindicated by this, the college boy uploaded an obscene video of the girl on the social media platform with the help of his friend.

After the  video  went viral, the girl’s mother hanged herself  to death last August 24.  Later, a relative of the woman lodged a complaint with police. After investigation, the cops arrested the two accused from Balaosre and seized the mobile phone used in the crime.

The two accused are being interrogated, sources said.
