286 posts of pediatric, gynecologists lying vacant in Odisha

A total of 286 posts of doctors in pediatrics and gynecology are lying vacant in 377 Community Health Centres (CHCs) in Odisha.

Informing this in the State Assembly here on Friday, Health and Family Welfare minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak said out of a total of 376 posts of medical-in-charge doctors in 377 CHCs in the state, there are 136 doctors each in class-I and II categories while the remaining 104 posts are lying vacant.

Besides, out of a total of 262 approved posts of pediatric doctors, there are 65 regular, eight contractual and 101 MBBS doctors working in these centres while the remaining 88 posts are lying vacant, the minister said while replying to a question of Pramod Kumar Mallick.

Nayak also informed that out of a total of 380 approved posts of gynecologists, there are 145 regular, four contractual and 137 MBBS doctors working in these centres while the remaining 94 posts are lying vacant.

All these vacant posts would be filled up through promotion and specialists’ recruitment process, he added.
