30 houses gutted in fire mishap in Odisha

Jajpur/Nayagarh, Apr 23: 

A six year old girl went amiss following a fire incident in which more than 30 houses turned into ashes at Talagada village under Korei Police Station in Jajpur district of Odisha today.

fire mishapThe fire in Radha Sahi area of the village this afternoon saw assets worth over a lakh completely destroyed.

Besides, a calf is said to be burnt alive in the fire.

“The fire most likely started because of a short circuit and spread fast supported by the hot air blowing all through the day,” said a villager.

Two fire extinguisher vehicles were pressed into service to douse fire in the village. Search for the missing six-year-old is still on at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, in another incident of fire in the state, a forest fire that had been doused out last night in Rukhi hills near Nayagarh town reignited today. Thousands of tress have burnt down affecting the wildlife in the area and threatening habitation in nearby old town.
