4 dead, 1 critically injured after car collides head-on with truck in Odisha’s Cuttack

Tigiria: Four youths were killed and one more sustained grievous injuries as a car in which they were travelling had a head-on collision today with a truck near Nuasadak Chhak of Panchagaon panchayat under Tigiria police limits in Cuttack district.

According to a police source, the fatal road mishap took place in the afternoon at around 3.00 pm. The ill-fated car met with an accident when the vehicle was on its way from Athagarh to elsewhere with the truck coming from the Tigiria side. The driver of the truck fled from the spot leaving the vehicle soon after the mishap. A youth died on the spot and three others while undergoing treatment in the hospital.

The injured youth was rescued by some locals in critical condition and sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment. His condition is not out of danger, a doctor treating him said.

On being informed by the locals, Tigiria police reached the accident site and launched a probe. Police have recovered the bodies and sent them to a hospital in Athagarh for post-mortem.
