6 more officials in Odisha given compulsory retirement for corruption

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government gave compulsory retirement to another six officials including a Chief Engineer on the grounds of corruption and inefficiency.

Electrical Chief Engineer of Sambalpur, Sunil Kumar Panda was given compulsory retirement. A case has been registered against Panda for amassing disproportionate assets of Rs 3.26 crore. Earlier, he was suspended for his alleged involvement in corruption.

Also, Berhampur (Rural Works) Electrical Division Executive Engineer Jagannath Sethy was given compulsory retirement for his involvement in corruption. He was allegedly involved in amassing disproportionate assets of Rs 7.63 crore. He was also suspended for the same.

Bhubaneswar Executive Engineer (Testing and Calibration) and Deputy Electrical Inspector Deepak Kumar Bhuyan against whom two corruption cases have been registered was given compulsory retirement.

The State government gave compulsory retirement to Bhubaneswar Executive Engineer (ED & Inspection) and Deputy Electrical Inspector Prashant Kumar Mishra.

A bribery case has been registered against Gunupur Block Education Officer (BEO) Antaryami Behera. On March 2, 2022, he was arrested for taking bribe of Rs 10,000 and forwarded to the court the next day. Behera was given the compulsory retirement.

Another BEO Braj Kumar Nayak, who was working in Nuagarh, was also caught red handed by the Vigilance for taking Rs 30,000. He was also given compulsory retirement.

So far, a total of 164 officials have been either given compulsory retirement or dismissed in the State on the grounds of corruption and inefficiency.
