Besides, a village committee member and 34 men are among those who surrendered and hail from Gumukaguda, Intaguda and Eerelguda villages of Chitragapalli gram panchayat under Kalimela police station limits of the district.

“The Maoists have exploited and tortured us though we always helped them. We want to lead a normal life and want welfare schemes of the government to reach our village,” a surrendered Maoist supporter said.

On the other hand, the surrendered militia said that they were disillusioned with the Maoist ideology and their violent means.

It may be recalled that 129 Maoist supporters, including 35 women, 18 militia members and six village committee members of Terubai village under Podia police limits, had surrendered before Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mahapatra yesterday.
