The corporator of ward number 23, Sk Shamim Ullah, was arrested by Daragha Bazaar police for his role in hooliganism in the government-run hospital.

“Some people barged into my cabin and ran amok. The almirah, TV, door, windows were damaged. The dragged me to the dharna site and manhandled me,” Cuttack ADMO, Abhay Kumar Patnaik said.

Following the incident, Patnaik had lodged an FIR with the Daragha Bazaar police.

“The Congress workers had gone berserk in the presence of police personnel. We have suspended all work barring emergency services in the hospital in protest of the incident,” Cuttack CDMO Prafulla Kumar Sahu said.

In reply to this, president of Cuttack city Congress Mohammed Moquim said: “Some people had come to me complaining about poor health services in the hospital. If some workers have done this taking advantage of the dharna then I have no knowledge about it. They are doing this to hide their incompetence.”
