CCTV cameras installed at court in Odisha’s smart city

Following the directive by the Supreme Court and Orissa High Court, the CCTV cameras were installed at the court in Odisha’s smart city Bhubaneswar.

Around 90 CCTV cameras have been installed inside and outside the court. While 34 cameras have been installed at entrance point and corridor, 23 court halls have 46 cameras.

A control room has been opened at the District and Sessions Court for managing the CCTV cameras.

With the installation of a number of CCTV cameras inside the court and its premises, vigil can be kept on the accused and gangsters, who are brought to the court. Also, it will help for conducting probe into any incident occurs at the court premises.

Installation of CCTV cameras at the court premises was the long time demand by the Bhubaneswar Bar Association. Hearing on a criminal petition the Supreme Court had directed all the high courts and district and sessions courts to install the CCTV cameras inside the courts.

Following the directive, Rs 30 lakh allocations were made for installation of the CCTV cameras in all the courts including Bhubaneswar court in the smart city.
