Zero tolerance: OAS officer accused of sexual harassment given compulsory retirement

Bhubaneswar: Suspended Ayush director Bibhu Prasad Sarangi, who is accused of allegedly sexually harassing a woman employee, has been given a premature retirement from his service.

After careful consideration in line with policy of zero tolerance of any act of immorality by any of its employee, the State Government ordered compulsory retirement of the OAS officer in the rank of special secretary from the service with immediate effect.

Earlier, the State administration had suspended Sarangi from government service in view of the gravity of case and evidence against him.

On July 9, the senior OAS officer posted as the Director of Directorate of AYUSH was arrested on charges of sexually harassing a woman employee working in his office following a complaint filed by the victim against him at the Mahila Police Station in Bhubaneswar. He remained in judicial custody till July 13.
