Bhubaneswar, Jan 13:

A day after the Debashish Samantaray – Damodar Rout verbal duel, Jagatsinghpur BJD President Bishnu Das today locked horns with party Vice President Rout and demanded his ouster from the party.

“I demand his ouster from the party under disciplinary grounds. He should be sacked from his ministerial position and stripped off the party post too. That will bring back discipline in the party. I hope the Chief Minister and Party president will take a step on this context soon,” said Das.

“At a time when ministers are being pelted eggs, he is making statements that he is being received warmly everywhere and no one is pelting eggs at him. Is he not encouraging egg pelting by doing this? Now, it is obvious why he is not being pelted eggs. The way he is working, it looks like he is the in-charge of Congress and advisor of BJP in the state,” he added criticizing Rout further.

Not a man to cede an inch, motormouth Rout took on his old rival Das and called him a “nobody”.

“BJD is a regional party and Naveen Patnaik is the founder and supremo. People have trusted him and he has trusted me with certain responsibilities. I am carrying out my duties with devotion. Who is this man complaining against me! He doesn’t have any identity and or credibility in the party. Besides, I know very well how to maintain discipline in a political party,” said Excise Minister Rout.

BJD Spokesperson Shashi Bhusan Behera tried to downplay the incident.

“I understand that there are some leaders who are commenting against each other. It happens in every party. The same leaders would come together and fight when party’s interest is in stake. Besides, the party president is monitoring the situation and will take necessary action in due course of time, if necessary,” said Behera.
