Two Odisha players stormed into the boy’s singles semifinals of the AITA-OTA Champions Series Boy’s Under-14 tennis tournament at the SOA University Sports Complex here on Wednesday.
While Swostik Pradhan (Odisha) defeated Asish Sinha of Jharkhand 6-3, 6-3, fourth seed Pratyush Chhotray of Odisha beat compatriot Aditya Satpathy 6-1, 6-1.
Fifth seed N Kirandeva of Tamil Nadu caused an upset defeating 2nd seed Arvind Sundar of Karnataka 6-4, 6-3.
Two Odisha girls also made it to the last four in the singles event.
Second seed Alisha Samal of Odisha defeated Bhakti Shah of Andhra Pradesh 6-2, 6-0 while here state mate Amaan Almas prevailed over Rutuparna Choudhury of Odisha 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.
Top seed Yubrani Banerjee of West Bengal and Sameera Salihundam of Andhra Pradesh completed the semifinal line-up.
While Banerjee defeated Bihar’s Sonal Shristi 6-3, 6-1, Sameera beat Shreya Mondal of West Bengal 6-1, 6-1.
In the boy’s doubles, Odisha’s Swostik Pradhan and Pratyush Chhotray entered the final defeating Amrutjay Mohanty of Odisha and Varun K Mudipalli of Andhra Pradesh 4-1, 4-0.
