Arrested hardcore Maoist escapes from Odisha court premises

Nuapada: An arrested hardcore Maoist escaped from the premises of the court of SDJM in Odisha’s Nuapada district today.

The Maoist, identified as Manoj Madkami of Bijapur in Chhattisgarh, was brought to the court from jail for production. In the meantime, he shoved policemen and fled the place by jumping the boundary of the court premises.

Madkami was arrested on May 30 from Patapani forest in the district after security personnel raided the place. He was carrying a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh on his head.

He was an area committee member of the Bargarh-Bolangir Mahasamund Division of CPI (Maoist) organisation and involved in cases of murder, torching and exchange of fire with police.
