Baramunda bus terminal in Odisha capital named after BR Ambedkar

Bhubaneswar: The interstate bus terminal at Baramunda in Odisha capital here will be named after BR Ambedkar, the father of Indian Constitution.

The newly-constructed bus terminal at Baramunda will be known as Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bus Terminal, said the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in statement today.

The state government will build a special gallery at Baramunda bus terminal to make people aware of the contribution of Ambedkar to the country. The life and deeds of Ambedkar will be depicted at the gallery, it added.

“BR Ambedkar was an eminent social reformer. He had dedicated his entire life for an equitable society. He was a beacon of hope for Dalit communities,” said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while announcing the decision.

The bus terminal, built over around 15 acres of land, can handle at least 30,000 passengers daily. It has been equipped with all modern facilities for the passengers.
