Bhubaneswar Airport fully ready to resume flight services: Director

Bhubaneswar: As the Centre has given green signal for recommencement of flight services from May 25, the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) is fully ready to resume operation, informed airport Director VV Rao today.

Informing mediapersons, the BPIA director said, ” The airport was already prepared to resume flight services anytime prior to May 25. Nevertheless,  we have instructed our employees to be ready for the resumption.”

The SOPs issued by the Airport Authority of India (AAI)today will be strictly followed at Bhubaneswar Airport. The routes in which the flight services will resume will be known by this evening, the airport director added.

In view of the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, the entire airport will be made touch-free.  Trolley and magnifying glass attached to a stick for checking of tickets will not be allowed at the airport for the time being, said sources.

Worth mentioning, the AAI issued the SOPs a day after Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced that domestic civil flight services will recommence in a calibrated manner from May 25.   As per the SOPs, passengers will have to mandatorily install Aarogya Setu mobile app, without which they won’t be allowed entry into the terminal building. Besides, all passengers will be required to go in for a thermal check before entering the terminal.
