Bhubaneswar becomes India’s 1st city to achieve 100% COVID-19 vaccination

Bhubaneswar: As targeted earlier, Bhubaneswar became the first city in the country to achieve 100 per cent vaccination against COVID-19.

Informing this, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Lakhmikant Sethi said around 10.60 lakh people have already taken the vaccine first dose while around 8 lakh of them have been administered with both the doses.

“All residents of Bhubaneswar have been vaccinated against the virus. The remaining  non-residents of the city (floating population) will soon be fully vaccinated,” he said adding that BMC is taking all possible efforts to put the capital city in number one position in the country on various aspects.

Earlier, the civic body earned praises by increasing the daily vaccination figures by with introduction of drive-in vaccination centres and vaccination of destitute/ homeless, beggars and slum dwellers.
