Biju Patnaik’s statue vandalised in Odisha; BJD activists hit streets

Kendrapara: After unidentified miscreants vandalised a statue of veteran leader and former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik near Trinath Bazaar in Rajnagar area here, over a hundred BJD activists today took to streets demanding arrest of the wrongdoers.

Holding banners and shouting slogans, the activists staged a demonstration at Dakabangala Chhak in Pattamundai area of the district by burning tyres.

The protesters alleged that some miscreants have intentionally beheaded the statue of the legendary leader and escaped. They demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.

Last evening, the party activists staged a road blockade on Pattamundai-Rajnagar Main Road at Trinath Bazaar by disrupting vehicular movements on the road for a while. Later, they withdrew the agitation after police reached the spot and pacified the mob.
