BJP gheraoes Odisha DGP office over poll violence by BJD

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Cuttack, Feb 21:

BJP workers today gheraoed Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) office here alleging police failure in curbing violence by BJD during the panchayat polls.

Led by BJP leader and former minister Sameer Dey, hundreds of saffron party workers gheraoed the office during which a scuffle ensued between them and policemen.

Several BJP leaders and activists were later arrested by police.

“BJP leaders and workers are being intentionally targeted as the party is getting good results in the panchayat polls. Protesting it, we gheraoed the DGP office today. We had earlier informed the DGP about the gheraoing but he didn’t meet us,” said Dey.
